A Cafe with an Exceptional Vibe

Easily my favorite café in Taipei. A tall order in a city with an amazing coffee scene but The Folks always makes me so happy. The coffee and the overall vibe always completes my Taipei visit. Meticulously prepared coffee, roasted and brewed by the owner himself. And don’t forget the epic musical selection!

Description

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Taipei, The Folks coffee shop serves as a haven for caffeine enthusiasts and remote workers alike. With a strong reputation for exceptional brews, guests rave about the meticulously prepared coffee that embodies quality and craftsmanship. The owner, Ling, is not just your barista; he’s a passionate coffee connoisseur who roasts his beans onsite, ensuring that every cup captures the essence of the coffee bean’s flavor profile. Visitors are welcomed into a cozy space that reflects a mellow, Japanese-inspired ambiance, making it an ideal spot to sip a delicious espresso or pour-over while enjoying a moment of tranquility.

The Folks stands out in Taipei’s abundant coffee scene, and many patrons claim it is their go-to café in the city. As one reviewer noted, there’s something undeniably special about the atmosphere here, where hushed tones and a chill vibe create an intimate setting perfect for solo working or quiet conversations with a friend. The seating is intentionally limited, fostering a sense of community where guests can engage with the barista and watch the brewing process unfold right before their eyes.

The café’s owner goes above and beyond in crafting an experience for his guests. His dedication is evident not only in the care he puts into every drink — such as the acclaimed Honey Cafe Latte and delightful cappuccinos — but also in the way he treats his customers. Patrons have shared heartwarming experiences of Ling’s attention to detail, whether it’s measuring ingredients precisely or pausing to ensure a guest can enjoy their drink fresh and hot.

Furthermore, the lively selection of music enhances the experience, infusing the café with a sense of energy that complements the exquisite coffee. While opinions differ on the volume, many appreciate the upbeat tunes that create a unique backdrop to their coffee rituals. Guests can even choose to sit outdoors, embracing the lively atmosphere of the bustling street as they sip their expertly crafted drinks.

In essence, The Folks is more than just a coffee shop; it’s an experience that emphasizes quality, community, and passion. Whether you’re starting your day with a morning fix or taking a break from your busy schedule, this little gem promises a memorable coffee experience that you’ll want to revisit time and time again.

Highlights

  • A Place to Soak in Good Vibes: I miss this place. One of the highlights of my visit to Taipei. Such a chill vibe and smooth coffee! You just want to sit there and soak it in. The owner is super kind and you can just see the passion and taste the mastery of his craft.
  • An Oasis for Coffee Enthusiasts: My favorite coffee shop in Taipei. Some of the smoothest, most delicious coffee I’ve ever had. And I’ve had a lot of good espresso! If you like good espresso and good vibes, you have to come here. The owner is incredibly kind and the space itself is hip and a soothing / chill atmosphere.
  • A Favorite Spot for Solo Dates: I love this place, probably my favorite in Taipei. Barista is so chill and sweet and very meticulous when he makes your order. He measures everything out on a scale and has the most perfect latte art. Only downside is they close at 3pm. Wonderful place for solo dates and studying!
  • Experience the Tastiest Lattes: Ordered the Honey Cafe Latte and it was quite possibly the tastiest latte I’ve had in a while! I ordered to go, but would’ve loved to sit in. Seating is limited, but I think that’s intentional as it is set-up kind of like a bar. Super cool to see the drinks made in front of you. Music is lively and upbeat. Would love to come again :)
